Topnotch Birmingham music fest

Scampering eagerly into its fourth year and filling out every corner of the Custard Factory in Digbeth, Supersonic is a weekend jampacked with interesting music which manages to lure both performers and punters from all over the world. Lineup includes Isis, High On Fire, Andy Votel, Broadcast, Shy Child, Knives, Modified Toy Orchestra and hundreds of others. See the Capsule site for more info...

As ever, 7 Inch Cinema will be huddling in a corner showing videos. This time it looks like we'll have the dance studio to play with, and we'll be welcoming special guests Black Galaxy and Sugarfoot Stomp. Highlights include (in chronological order)...

A crotchful of heavy-duty shorts. Includes a short portrait of Slayer fans, a cat listening to War Pigs, and a very special 20th anniversary presentation of the legendary HEAVY METAL PARKING LOT (dir: Krulik & Heyn), shot outside a Judas Priest concert in Maryland on 5 May 1986;

BLACK GALAXY (live)
Continuing their 'Photon Hex' series of film/sound fusions, Black Galaxy will be combining processed sound and live improvisation to accompany a programme of early experimental cinema. BG are Nicholas Bullen and Simon Mabbutt, tonight collaborating with members of Haxan and Kreepa.

...Topped off with a very civilised climax courtesy of the ladies from Sugarfoot Stomp.
