Emma De Swaef and Marc James Roels, the brilliant Belgian duo behind the short film Oh Willy... (one of our all-time favourites, screening as a preamble) are back this year with an even more ambitious work: This Magnificent Cake!

This 45-minute stop-motion anthology film follows five characters in 19th century colonial Africa. A study of power that confronts Europe with its taboos and contradictions, the film is also a dark comedy and a surreal reverie, masterfully written and crafted.
