Underwater Music feat. the films of Jean Painlevé

Before Jacques Cousteau, there was Jean Painlevé. We’ll be screening a selection of the French filmmaker’s aquatic treasures, in anticipation of a wonderful new 2-disc DVD from the BFI which features restored and rarely-seen shorts along with new scores by Yo La Tengo. Colonel Abacha (filmficciones) will be donning snorkel and flippers to provide regular musical interludes.
