We're Making a Film about Mark Fisher + MVW

Saturday 16th May, 2026

7pmThe Edge (Friction Arts)4h

Another chance to explore the world of Mark Fisher but this time with live music after the film by Michael Valentine West.

Mark Fisher was a writer, philosopher, cultural theorist, critic and writer (amongst other things), who was, and remains, highly influential to post-capitalist discourse. As well as his best known book, Capitalist Realism, he produced many books, essays and blogs that posed, and occasionally answered, important questions regarding the political and social structures which surround and enclose us.

Following on from the sold out screening the evening before, Friction Arts will be screening We're Making a Fim About Mark Fisher by artists Simon Poulter and Sophie Mellor once more. This special screening will also feature a live performance by Michael Valentine West. Michael is a hugely influential experimental musician who has performed under many different guises and scored a number of experimental films, including this one. This event will be PAYF with a suggested donation of £5.
