Wonderland Memory Box
Wonderland Memory Box
Sunday 11th September, 2022
Free entry, no booking required.
Time Travel Tram: Audiences will experience Time Travel Tram through a VR Headset. The experience is 15 minutes long. Please allow 30 minutes for onboarding, the experience and audience evaluation afterwards.
Were you wowed by the huge screens at The Gaumont or IMAX? Did you see your favourite film (or band?!) at the Odeon New Street? Still have photos or mementos from a first date at The Futurist, The Kingsway or The Royalty?
Bring along your memories, tickets, photos, and memorabilia from cinema-going anywhere in Birmingham, and have a chat over a cuppa with the team while we make digital copies - we'll send you a copy of course! To help jog your memory there will be conversations and archive film throughout the day, including:
Odeon Cavalcade
11:30 and 13:00
1973 documentary revisiting the 30s heyday of the Birmingham-born Odeon chain, and the architectural style that helped to define the movies.
Movie Mahal Q&A
14:00
Amarjit Sidhu and Avtar Singh Randhawa will reflect on their experiences working at the Imperial and the Waldorf, two cinemas at the heart of Birmingham's South Asian movie boom in the 60s and 70s.
Plus, we'll be joined by the Time Travel Tram!
