Flatpack Projects
Film, and then some

Birmingham 68

Pop, protest and play.

A landmark year internationally, 1968 was also a turbulent time for Birmingham. This eye-opening, city-straddling project kicked off in spring 2018 with a programme of events, exhibitions and screenings as part of the 12th Flatpack Film Festival, exploring everything from slum clearance and student protest to Digbeth bikers and Erdington psychedelia. Now a team of researchers are following up on the stories that came to light during the festival, leading to a series of podcasts and a publication at the end of the year.

If you're interested in the project or have your own 68 stories to share, write to my68@flatpackfestival.org.uk. Birmingham 68 is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
