Las Palmas

Plenty of you have been asking about submitting shorts for Flatpack 2013, and full details will be going up here in the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, we have finally cleansed all that compelling sport out of our system and can start thinking about our own events...

First up, tomorrow a raggle-taggle caravan of Digbeth folks will be heading for the Liverpool Biennial to be part of the City States show, alongside the likes of Copenhagen, Hong Kong and Vilnius. Birmingham The Magic City includes David Rowan's subterranean videos (on view at the last Flatpack), Napalm Death fanzines and a carousel of civic promotional films, and will be on show until 25 November.

Then on 27 September you can find us showing shorts, animation and archive oddities at the new Yorks Cafe Bakery on Newhall St in Birmingham. The theme is nightlife, and highlights will include Joanna Quinn's Girls Night Out and Johannes Nyholm's memorable Las Palmas (pictured, in which his 2 year old daughter trashes a tourist bar).
