Flatpack Festival
Film for all the senses

Staff Picks: Charlotte

Monday 25th March, 2013

The festival is underway but the Flatpack team are still on hand to provide the inside scoop on this year's event. Today's Picks are from our Artist Liaison- Charlotte.

Departure Lounge: Strings

It's great to see young filmmakers breaking through and getting acclaim for their work, so I'm really excited to see Rob Savage's feature Strings. It's received critical acclaim at Raindance and the BIFA's - so it's not going to disappoint. He's also going to be at the mac to chat about his experience, so i'm going to stick around and pick his brain!

Only The Young

I'm really looking forward to watching 'Only the Young' - a beautiful coming of age tale, set in the romantic backdrop of California with an old soul soundtrack. Uniquely blending fiction with documentary i'm curious to see what new graduates from CalArts have to offer.

Vanishing Waves

So excited to see Vanishing Waves, it looks absolutely stunning, the cinematography alone is a reason to see this film. Telling the story of a neural transfer into the consciousness of a young coma victim, it looks like a surreal masterpiece. Plus director Kristina Buozyte will be at the screening!

International Space Orchestra

The idea- Gathering together a group of space scientists to develop and perform Ground Control: An Opera in Space - coolest thing ever? The director Nelly Ben Hayoun, who for her previous work built a volcano in her living room, will be attending the screening. Definitely not one to miss.
