Jonathan Hering

Jonathan Hering is a Liverpool-based composer, performer, producer and musical director. He works with artist Laura Spark.

As a composer, commissions have included Lachrymose, for 100-voice choir at Turner Contemporary, Margate 2013; Rhapsody for Clarinet and Wheelchair Basketball Team, an audio-visual work for the Bluecoat and DaDaFest 2012; and Veil of Nightshade, a site- specific work for Octopus' Full of Noises Festival 2013 in Barrow-in-Furness. Hard to pigeonhole, Jonathan has composed for indeterminate ensembles, film, and museum instrument collections; had his music performed throughout Europe, and played by members of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and the BBC Philharmonic.

As a performer, with a background in the experimental end of pop music, Jonathan has performed internationally, touring Europe and Japan, and has shared stages with Rhys Chatham, Mogwai, Hype Williams and Colin Stetson. Jonathan works with the groups Ex-Easter Island Head and The Aleph, and will be releasing a solo record of Renaissance choral music in 2018.
