Laura Irving
I am an audio producer based on the sleepy south coast of England. I started my field recording career on a kid’s tape recorder when I was 2 years old.
After a 32 year hiatus, I rediscovered a love of audio and in 2016, dropped out of a sensible job to spend a year studying MA Radio Production. I graduated in Nov 2017, and now teach Radio to undergrads, part time.
My audio interests are; acoustic ecology, weird & found sounds (that feeling you get when you think there might be something magical on a tape found in a freebox) untold stories, community/public radio, archive rummaging and crate digging, oral histories and experimenting with interactive audio/installations. I helped to establish the first chapter of ‘In The Dark’ listening events in Bournemouth late last year.
