Laura Spark

Laura Spark is a visual artist working in animation, film, theatre and print. She works with artist Jonathan Hering.

Having originally graduated with a degree in Drama at Liverpool’s John Moore’s University, Laura has recently completed a Masters in Animation at the Royal College of Art.

Laura’s time in Liverpool saw her founding pivotal grassroots arts space MelloMello, and collaborations and performances with The Kazimier.

Laura’s films have been shown in festivals and exhibitions internationally, including Stoptrik 2017, Slovenia; Hole in the Head Film Festival 2017, San Francisco; and Final Girls Festival 2018, Berlin; she has made music videos for Emily Portman and Laura Cannell amongst others; and has created visual work for live musical performance internationally.

Her background in performance brings strong theatrical elements to her work. Drawing on themes from folk, myth, horror and psychedelia, Laura’s perverse insights into contemporary anxieties are haunting and visceral. Her work demonstrates an intuitive knowledge of music and rhythm, and a dramatic and playful performative flair.
