An Ode to Viking: Absolute Film + Live Scores

100 hundred years ago, Swedish artist Viking Eggeling made a film called Symphonie Diagonale, photographing paper cut-outs and tin foil figures one frame at a time. This would go on to have a profound effect on experimental and avant-garde filmmaking for the next century.

To celebrate this landmark film, we’re teaming up with the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (RBC) and an incredibly talented cohort of composers to present a selection of the very best Swedish experimental films from the last hundred years with brand new live scores.

If previous RBC collaborations are anything to go by, expect an eclectic and seriously impressive new aural interpretations of some brilliant films.
