Ela Orleans: La Nuit Dorée
Evoking the gilded nights of 1960s Paris, Polish audiovisual artist Ela Orleans' La nuit dorée is a nostalgic, audiovisual exploration of haute couture.
Through her signature collage technique, she seamlessly merges archival film, photography and music, weaving together extracts from 60s French cinema with intimate moments filmed during her residency at Cité des arts internationale, within the historic Marais district.
Performing the soundtrack live, Orleans blends noir-inspired laments and atmospheric fragments with influences from the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, Éthiopiques, and Bernard Herrmann.
The result: a richly textured work that paints a vivid picture of a past French artistic and cultural scene.
