Reel Brum Two
Having grown in stature and reputation over the last couple of years, the Reel Brum network is thriving.
Each month the event brings together the city’s filmmaking talent for talks, presentations, and screenings.
We’re super excited to present the best of all the films shown at Reel Brum’s events over the past year at Flatpack 2025, one of which will go on to win the Reel Brum award (£200 cash prize). This is the first of two programmes of films and will include:
A Million Numbers (dir. Matthew Cooke & Vincent Lund)
A time travelling cab driver pulls the ultimate "forever shift" for one last chance to watch
his daughter grow up.
Divine (dir. Mya Shakham)
An inspiring journey into the lives of two individuals forever changed by the
transformative power of house music and the rave scene. Through their stories and
insights from DJs, experts, and academics, this narrative unveils the profound spiritual
and cultural impact of raving - where music becomes a catalyst for connection, healing,
and self-discovery.
Dusty Do Good (dir. Jack Hughes)
A young boy with Down’s syndrome escapes his troubled home life through an old
cowboy TV show and models himself on the main character. He roams his estate as a
righteous lawman, but things take a darker turn when he runs into a local gang.
Fortune Tell Her (dir. Robert George Lane)
A story about Gertrude, a lady with a remarkable gift to see the future.
Filmed in one day at The Rose Villa Tavern in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter. Starring
Janice Connolly, Laurence Saunders, Robert George Lane and a host of talented performers
from the Midlands.
Outlands (dir. Mark Hampton)
A band of warriors must navigate the uncharted woodlands of Barberia, but find trouble
closing in all around..
Zugzwang (dir. Genevieve Lowe)
