Speaking Back
We’ve done a bit of match-making here, putting spoken word and film together in the same room. We hope it will be a beautiful, enduring romance rather than a shotgun wedding, but there’s only one way to find out…
Four brilliant spoken word artists have been digging through shorts, animation and archive material in the Flatpack vaults. Each will pick a film and bring a creative response to it. Crackling chemistry between screening and performance should result, with a bit of chat about the writing process thrown in.
Our host for the evening is spoken-word poet and writer Polarbear, and he’ll be joined by:
Nafeesa Hamid - poet, playwright, cook
Zakariye Abdillahi - poet, filmmaker and chatter of absolute crap
Jess May Davies - poet with stage-fright, but always curious to see what happens
Doors: 17:45
Screening Starts: 18:00
