This Way To The Revolution - Book Launch

Since last year Flatpack Festival have been investigating Birmingham in 1968, from activism and redevelopment to light-shows and heavy rock.

This evening's event will see the launch of the publication which has emerged from this research, a beautiful slice of social history designed by Justin Hallström which includes photographs by Janet Mendelsohn and Nick Hedges as well as the story behind Birmingham Arts Lab, Mothers club, Black Sabbath and the Black and White Unite and Fight rally in Victoria Square.

The book's author Ian Francis and a number of those who contributed memories and images will be here to talk about this unique period, and from 7:30 Steve Ajao Blues Giants will play a selection of soul and blues numbers. The evening is also an opportunity to see Ikon's new exhibition of paintings by John Walker, who like Steve Ajao is an alumnus of Moseley School of Art.
