A cooperative of young people in Coventry have been working very hard over the last few months to organise the CVX Festival.
CVX Festival is a pioneering arts activism programme curated by young people around the themes of community, unity and social change.
Commissioned as part of UK City of Culture 2021 and working in partnership with Positive Youth Foundation and organisations and artists across the city including CineCov, who are proudly supporting the film strand of the festival, in partnership with We Are Parable, who specialise in creating unique events that celebrate the best of Black Cinema with audiences who love film.
With many exciting titles to consider, young producers have chosen to screen the acclaimed film Judas and the Black Messiah, as part of the IGNITE strand of the festival. The film sees which sees FBI informant, William O'Neal (LaKeith Stanfield), infiltrate the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party to gather intelligence on Chairman Fred Hampton plated by Daniel Kaluuya, in a mesmerising performance which won him his first Academy Award.
Co-produced by Birmingham Hippodrome and Coventry City of Culture Trust and funded by Arts Council England and Spirit 2012.
