In partnership with Grand Union, we are proud to present Horses! This afternoon of films and conversation explores representations of horses in relation to class, queerness, anti-colonial contexts and filmic materialities.

Co-curated with Linda Stupart, artist, educator and equestrian based in Birmingham, HORSES! presents a series of films that seek to examine therapeutic connections between urban landscapes and the power of equine energy.

The afternoon comprises Stepney Western (2025) by Harry Lawson, Never Stop Riding (2017) by Iwantja Arts and HORSES! (2026) by Linda Stupart.

These screenings will be followed by an in-conversation with Linda Stupart and Harry Lawson, and special guests Ella Daley and Griffinn Jameson, to explore particular horse and human relationships in the urban setting.

Access notes:

‘Stepney Western’ is subtitled, ‘HORSES!’ is captioned (WIP) and ‘Never Stop Riding’ has captioned translations, however the spoken English is not subtitled.

Please note that Linda Stupart’s film ‘HORSES!’ contains graphic content, including scenes slashing a pregnant abdomen, which some viewers may find distressing.

It also includes visual sequences that may trigger photosensitive epilepsy. Sound levels will vary throughout.
