Visible traces of cinema in this part of Birmingham are hard to find, but they are there if you know where to look.
This audiovisual walking tour will revisit key sites including the Empire and the Savoy, while also discovering local figures who made their living in film. A magician who became a pioneering producer of trick films. A poet-showman-lanternist who ended up repairing trolleys on the Pershore Road. And a cinema organist who served as a stretcher-bearer at the battle of Monte Cassino. Fittingly in this anniversary year, Cadbury will be a recurring theme on our journey.
Meet outside Perfection Snooker Club, 1239 Pershore Rd, Stirchley B30 2YT, and wear comfortable shoes. The walk is approximately 1.5 miles on flat ground, and will end in Cotteridge.
