Victoria Mapplebeck's intimate portrait of single parenthood via home video footage immediately draws you into her family's world.

Spanning 20 years, we witness Mapplebeck navigate the highs and lows of motherhood, while her son, Jim, grapples with growing up without his father. Life-altering events, like a cancer diagnosis and the loss of Victoria's father, unfold alongside small, everyday moments that catch you off guard, like a very young Jim sweetly singing along to his bedtime lullaby.

The film could easily fall into sentimentality, but Mapplebeck instead invites us into the raw reality of her and Jim's lives, sharing their most tender, frustrating and heartbreaking moments with humour and unflinching authenticity.

Prior to the film Victoria will be part of a panel discussion exploring filming family members and making personal documentaries. See more info about that event here.
