When you think of witches, what do you see?

Filmmaker Elizabeth Sankey has always felt connected to witches, to women who ‘don’t fit in’. From wanting to be one as a child to finding solace in their stories.

Sankey’s deeply personal documentary weaves together film scenes from the last hundred years, from Häxan to The Craft to Rosemary’s Baby. Cinematic witches appear alongside intimate conversations with women who have experienced postnatal mental illness.

The result is a crucial, courageous reflection on motherhood and mental health, and an ode to the women that have endured social stigmas across centuries.

Join us for a screening followed by a Q&A with writer and researcher Sabina Stent, one of the film's interviewees Emily Hawkerr, and Natalie Thompson from Action on Postpartum Psychosis.
