Since 2020 we have been working with TouchBase Pears in Selly Oak and artist and theatre-maker Sarah Hamilton Baker to co-design a sensory film offer for people with complex disabilities.
touch screen events take family shorts from our Colour Box archives and translate them into an experience that involves touching, smelling, tasting, hearing and feeling your way through the films. Part screening, part performance, audiences can immerse themselves in light, sounds and movement as well as interacting with tangible objects portrayed within the films.
We're developing touch screen all the time, exploring new ways to present film in a new, more accessible context. The aim is to provide an alternative to traditional cinema or theatre going where audiences can interact with film and moving image in a way that is meaningful for them.
