Submit to Flatpack 2021
Submissions for Flatpack no.15 are now open, with a brand new category and a couple of additional cash prizes...
You might say that shorts really saved Flatpack this year. Thanks to the adaptability of our short film competition programme and a host of brilliant filmmakers we were able to share great work with people across the globe with our very first online festival. Not to mention the films themselves helped keep the team (somewhat) sane as we delivered said festival from our sofa to yours, so we're pretty darn excited to open submissions for festival no.15.
Short and Mid-Length Films
As ever, we’re accepting all genres and types of films, but for the first time we’re also accepting mid-length films this year (20-35mins). We also have some new cash prizes - for our screendance programme (which last year got a 4 star review in the guardian btw) and for our WTF award.
All successful submissions will be featured in the Flatpack 2021 programme, and as we are a BAFTA Qualifying Festival, they could also go on to win a BAFTA. You can submit and find the full list of awards & prizes plus all the rules & terms via FilmFreeway. (Save a fiver by submitting by the Early Bird deadline - 11:59pm, Thursday 31 December 2020. Final deadline is 11:59pm, Sunday 31 January 2021.)
Live Performance
Got a live performance idea relating to film, cinema and/or moving image? We’d like to hear from you too please. The deadline for live performance submissions is 11:59pm, Thursday 31 December 2020 - there’s no submission fee, and the work doesn’t have to be brand new.
To submit, just drop us a line, and if you want to get a feel for the type of work we’re after, take a look at our previous festival programmes.
COVID 19 We are very much planning for a physical festival, but will continue to monitor the situation over the next few months. Like pretty much all festivals we are also looking into options for a hybrid festival if need be, but if there are any changes made to the festival format, we will liaise with all filmmakers and artists at the earliest opportunity.
