Volunteers: We want YOUR faces in the frame
Have a passion for film and/or the arts, and yearn to meet people who share your enthusiasm? Want to gain work experience with, what The Guardian graciously called us, “one of the most open-minded [festivals] in the country”?
Well, you should get your face in the frame and join the Flatpack family of volunteers!
Flatpack Festival is a wonderfully eclectic film and mixed-arts festival based in Digbeth, Birmingham. With humble beginnings as a mixed-media film night in a pub, we’ve grown into an annual festival taking over numerous venues across the city as the first spring bulbs begin to bloom.
We’re only getting bigger and, with 100+ events in our programme, we can’t do everything by ourselves. That’s why we’re searching for enthusiastic, friendly volunteers who can give us a hand in making Flatpack 2019 a success.
This is where you come in.
We’ve had some amazing volunteers in the past, who’ve all gained invaluable experience across many different aspects of the festival. Click here to see how some of our previous volunteers have spent their time with us. It’s an excellent opportunity to develop your skills, gain new ones, and get a behind-the-scenes view of how a festival operates. You’ll become a key member of the Flatpack team and learn alongside other like-minded volunteers.
Flatpack Festival is returning this year from 30 April - 5 May.
Criteria:
- We’re looking for committed, proactive individuals who have a passion for film, art, and/or music
- We would like people who are interested in making a positive impact on Flatpack Festival
- Each volunteer must be able to commit to a minimum of three shifts during the festival period
- Volunteers must be 18+ years old
There are a number of roles available, as we’ll need additional support in specific areas when necessary, including:
GENERAL SUPPORT - You’re not a tree painted into the backdrop! In this role, you’ll be the welcoming face of the festival.
PRODUCTION SUPPORT - Like rolling your sleeves up, thinking on your feet and problem solving? Production could be for you.
MARKETING SUPPORT - Connecting with our audience is at the heart of our Marketing volunteer roles.
COLOUR BOX SUPPORT - Enjoy working with children? You could be perfect for Colour Box!
GUEST LIAISON SUPPORT - If you like meeting new and interesting people then this could be right up your street.
STUDENT AMBASSADORS - Help us spread the word about the festival around the city, one campus at a time!
VENUE COORDINATOR - If you’re a people person and fancy a bit more responsibility during the festival, this could be the perfect role for you. If you’re interested in this role, please click here for the application form.

If you’re passionate about the arts, want to create a thrilling cinematic experience for our audience, gain meaningful work experience (and maybe even attend some free screenings!), then please complete the application form here. Get involved and we can solve (pretty much) anything.
You must be able to work a minimum of 3 shifts during the festival (30 April - 5 May).
Applications closes on Friday 1 March.
