As part of Aston University’s 50th anniversary celebrations, they’ll be taking over the Library of Birmingham for a jam-packed day of free talks, activities and installations illuminating the science of light. Flatpack will be chipping in with a programme of ocular treats including light-painting with Sola and an immersive environment created by resident artist Chris Plant.
As well as on-the-day activities, there are a couple of elements running throughout the month:
Andrew Chappel: Light Matter
Book Rotunda (just above the travelators from the 3rd floor) till 19 October
Bringing together hessian sheets and a heavy-duty bulb, this beguiling installation poses the question ‘can light really move objects?’
D Joyce: Inside the Circle of Confusion
Lending area, lower ground floor till 5 October
Exhibition of ingenious macro-photography, created through a series of experiments with miniature props and analogue light filters.
