Several years in the works due to a tireless search for archive footage, the effort behind NG83 has paid off.

Dir: Claude Knight, Luke Scott & Sam Derby-Cooper UK 2015, 74 mins Cert: 12*

In the mid 1980s breakdancing swept through UK cities like wildfire, causing stocks of lino, ski-wear and boomboxes to plummet. One of the epicentres was Nottingham Rock City, where crews from across the country gathered on Saturdays to battle it out, and now a new film has emerged from the city looking at the legacy of that period. Made by a team including former B-boy Claude Knight, it features warm, rueful interviews with a range of characters, showing how the scene gave hope to kids with limited options – and then in some cases left them hanging when fashions changed. Several years in the works due to a tireless search for archive footage, the effort behind NG83 - When We Were B-Boys has paid off.
