Flatpack Festival
Film for all the senses

Republic + Snails

Saturday 23rd April, 2016

Some films need that extra time to tell the full story, and these two super mid-length docs are prime examples.

The mid-length film often gets neglected at film festivals – regarded as either too long or not long enough. There are some films though, that need that extra time to tell the full story, and these two super mid-length docs are prime examples. Both documentaries, and both highly amusing, Snails follows two friends Andrzej and Konrad on their quest to become snail-breeding tycoons, however they quickly discover it’s not quite as straightforward as they first envisaged.

Oliver Griffin and Neil Richardson’s Republic is a different kettle of fish, but equally funny. Shot in 1991, Oliver and Neil documented their hometown of Blyth in Northumbria, voted the worst place in Britain. 25 years later, the results can finally be seen. An absolute joy from start to finish. (dir. Grzegorz Szczepaniak) Poland 2015, 30 mins (dir. Oliver Griffin and Neil Richardson) UK 2014, 42 mins

This is not a ticketed event, but pay whatever you like, be that pounds, pennies or nothing at all. Flatpack Projects is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation.
