Zoology
A zookeeper has her life turned upside down when she unexpectedly grows a tail in this satire from Ivan Tverdovsky.
A shy and isolated middle-aged woman (Natalia Pavlenkova) spends her time among creatures in the zoo where she works as a zookeeper, preferring the humility of the animals to intimate relations with people. One day it is discovered that she has grown a large tail, and Natasha, having so far lived a quiet, unremarkable life with her mother, finds her reality turned upside down. Zoology is the second feature film of Russian director Ivan Tverdovsky, weaving together social satire and fantastical love fable to meditate upon bodies, otherness and fear.
