King Rocker - Stewart Lee and The Nightingales
Currently on a breather between stand-up tours, Stewart Lee has resisted the lure of idleness and decided to make a film tribute to the Black Country's unsung post-punk heroes The Nightingales.
King Rocker will capture the sights, the sounds, the smells of a hard-working rock band, and ponder on the parallels between frontman Robert Lloyd and Birmingham's neglected fibreglass icon King Kong. The full film won't be finished until later this year, but tonight for the first time you can enjoy a 20-minute teaser alongside a short set by Stewart and a discussion with Lloyd, Lee, director Michael Cumming and producer James Nicholls.
