Screendance Masterclass with Omari Carter

Thursday 26 November

Zoom | 12:00 - 13:30 & 15:00 - 16:30 (BST)

We’re delighted to be working with Omari ‘Motion’ Carter for this very special masterclass in which Omari will take participants on a journey from conception of idea, through to production, post production and finally how to get the film out there once it’s made.

Omari is Founder and Director of The Motion Dance Collective, a production company that has gained worldwide recognition producing thought-provoking work that combines dance and moving image, using the hybrid practice of screendance to tell relevant stories with dance and the screen.

The MDC's projects have been screened across the UK and internationally at both dance-film and mainstream film festivals including, Loikka Dance Film Festival (Helsinki, Finland), Cinedans Dance on Screen festival (Amsterdam, Netherlands) British Urban Film Festival (London, UK), Lightmoves Festival of Screendance (Limerick, Ireland) and the San Francisco Dance Film Festival (U.S.A).

Omari is also a graduate of the world's first ever MA in Screendance at London Contemporary Dance School and currently guest lectures in screendance practice at universities across the UK.

This masterclass will take place via zoom (the link will be sent out to participants an hour prior to the event start time). Please note that this event has very limited capacity.
All participants will have the opportunity to apply for £500 of seed funding (3 places available) provided by DanceXchange to develop their ideas and propose a project to be commissioned for Birmingham International Dance Festival in June 2021.
