Something Happened
These intimate stories hold a mirror up to the world we live in, and what first look like very personal accounts ultimately open to wider issues.
Flatpack regular Charlie Lyne, in his newest piece Lasting Marks, looks back on an old scandal; giving a voice to men put on trial for sadomasochism in 80s Britain.
Set against the backdrop of Mexico's macho culture, Shout at Me! (Me vas a gritar?) documents the routine of student and Lucha Libre wrestler Melissa. In these films, as in the haunting filmic essay Hearths and the experimental documentary The Ghost Behind, the violence remains off screen, but the sense of an impending threat surreptitiously infiltrates the programme.
