The JGPACA Curatorial Fellows invite you to cross the Kalûnga River in this Pan-African film programme, embarking on a journey which explores the worlds of brave dreamers.
The programme examines the transformation of dreams into lived reality, alongside the hard work and labour that often accompanies this transition.
This screening is the culmination of the JGPACA (June Givanni PanAfrican Cinema Archive) Fellowship: Curating with Pan-African Cinema Archives, an eight-week programme in which participants have immersed themselves in Pan-African cinema, curation, and archival practice. This event presents their collective curatorial response - a programme that reflects their own transformative journey through the archive.
JGPACA recognises the potential that exists to serve a larger and wider community of users, extending beyond its London-centred location and linking its PanAfrican networks regionally and to Africa, the Caribbean, the Americas and Europe. Importantly, JGPACA seeks to enable audiences and participants (communities) in the project to develop their cultural awareness, with a recognition of the complexities of Black identities.
This project is created with the support of the BFI Screen Heritage Fund, awarding National Lottery funding.
