Linear Horizon is a new audiovisual performance installation by Dutch Rotor Collective (Eelco Ottenhof and Joris Strijbos), continuing their research into expanded cinema and spatial compositions of light and sound.

In this work, the duo focuses exclusively on laser light, using precisely controlled horizontal beams and kinetic mirror systems to construct a dynamic field of light.

Think of this as light you can almost reach out and touch. Instead of just ‘watching’ a show, you’re stepping into a landscape where laser beams and sound waves behave like physical building blocks.

Moving in sharp, horizontal lines, the lasers bounce off motorized mirrors to weave an ever-changing web of light. When these beams hit a fine layer of mist, the air itself transforms into a glowing, 3D screen. One moment it’s a dense, geometric cage; the next, it’s a minimalist dance of single lines.

This isn’t just a projection - it’s light performing as architecture, reminiscent of work by Anthony McCall and Lis Rhodes.
