“I demand to have some booze!”

Few films capture the particular chaos of being young, skint and slightly unhinged quite like Withnail and I.

Regularly cited as one of the greatest British comedies ever committed to screen (who’s arguing?) Bruce Robinson’s cult classic follows two out-of-work actors who flee a grimy Camden flat for the countryside. What should be a restorative trip quickly dissolves into rain, regret, and one of cinema’s most ill-fated holidays.

Richard E. Grant’s Withnail is all theatrical flair and catastrophically bad decision-making, while Paul McGann’s Marwood plays the straight man with a permanently raised eyebrow and a soul slowly leaving his body.

Endlessly quotable and deceptively tender, it’s a film that staggers between farce and quiet heartbreak - a love letter to friendship, failure, and drinking through both.

Joining us for this special screening is Marwood himself, Paul McGann, to introduce the film. Expect behind-the-scenes stories, fond reflections, and a crowd of people mouthing along to every line.
