Our animation roundup in the short film competition programme has a lot to offer this year, from a hand-painted essay on masculinity (by the talented Birmingham City University student Taian Lu) to a crazy satire of Spain (think Max Max meets A Town Called Panic). If you're curious about how these films were made, check out the making of videos below - they give an idea of the incredible amount of work and creativity that goes into every single frame.

MAKING OF DIVERSE, by Taian Lu

To watch the films, head over to our virtual festival. The Short Film Competition programme Animated Adventures is available from 24-26 May to viewers in the UK and Northern Ireland with a Short Film Pass or a Flatpass.

Where can I see more? Our friends at Boxer Short Films have put together a brilliant selection in response to Animated Adventures, where you can discover previous works by Taian Lu, Shoko Hara, Jonathan Djob Nkondo and more...
