Mid-length Film Competition: Join the Jury

For the first time this year we accepted mid-length films into our film competition programme, and we’ve received some real gems. Selecting just one film to take home the £300 cash prize will be no mean feat - are you up to the challenge?

Reflecting the Flatpack programme at large, the mid-length line-up is joyously eclectic, from powerful documentary about an all-female orchestra from Afghanistan to a Japanese encounter of the third kind... We’re looking for a Midlands-based audience member to join Jade Turner, film programmer at the Northampton Filmhouse, on the mid-length jury to select the winning film.

What will being a jury member involve?

Watching. You’ll need to watch all of the films before the 21 May. There are eight films in total, 20-30 minutes each (under 4 hours all together). The jury members will be sent private viewing links to watch the films at their convenience.

Deliberating. We’ll set you up with an introductory virtual meeting with the other jury member (Jade), and you’ll need to arrange to meet up once more before 21 May to discuss the films and come to a decision about the winner.

Who can apply?

This opportunity is open to anyone over 18 years old, living in the Midlands, with a strong interest in film. Ideally, you will have attended a Flatpack event before, but no prior knowledge or experience of film or the arts is required. We’re looking for someone who has some time to spare over the next few weeks, who likes sharing their views about film and is interested in stepping behind the scenes of our fifteenth festival.

How to apply

To apply, please complete the short Google Form linked below before 28 April.
