Video Interview: Lara Draper
Lara Draper (née Crooks) had a small part in Franc Roddam's ground-breaking 1977 drama Dummy, at the age of two.
It wasn't until last year that she had the chance to see the film, which also features her mother as a teacher of the deaf. In this Zoom conversation she reflects on how the film affected her own path through life, the changing face of D/deaf representation onscreen, and the importance of inclusive education.
BSL interpreter: Victoria Midgley (VCM Interpreting Services) Dummy screened at the MAC as part of Flatpack Festival 2024, accompanied by audio description and creative captions for the first time.
