Beyond Bollywood + Q&A
Perceptions of South Asian cinema continue to be shaped by the commercial output of Mumbai.
However, Beyond Bollywood is a whole world of independent and experimental filmmaking that offers great diversity of voices, including female talent. Film historian and BCU professor Valentina Vitali has been working with a number of partners across the region to present here a selection of award-winning short films from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Myanmar.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A with filmmakers Shunn Lei Swe Yee and Saw Eh Doh Poe, from Myanmar.
