Pick 'n' Mix: Birmingham 2022 Festival

As the year draws to a close, join us in rounding off a year of filmmaking funded by Birmingham 2022 as we celebrate filmmaking talent in the Midlands.

Showcasing a mix of locally produced and global talent, this programme of shorts is a ‘pick 'n' mix’ of some of the brilliant films produced with B2022 funds, featuring everything from animation to musicals and documentary.

Reflecting the diversity of thought around the Commonwealth Games coming to Birmingham, the programme includes work from local organisations and collectives around the city, including Beatfreeks, Eastside Projects and Bostin’ Creative.

Programme highlights include Bertz Associate’s Sporting Tower, an exploration of Edgbaston Reservoir and Tower Ballroom’s heritage of sport and community, and The Same Track - archival footage tracking the history and presentation of the Commonwealth Games in its relation to Empire, accompanied by commentary from artist Thenjiwe Niki Nkosi.
