Portrait of Kaye + Q&A

Sunday 22nd May, 2022

The Mockingbird Cinema - Screen 2 | 14:00 - 15:30

Winner of the Special Jury Award at Sheffield Doc Fest last year, Ben Reed’s brilliant hour-long film, Portrait of Kaye is a future cult classic.

Taking his former next door neighbour as his subject, Ben documented many of Kaye’s monologues in her uniquely-decorated house over the course of a two year period. Having suffered from agoraphobia her entire life, Kaye has spent most of it surrounded by pictures of old Hollywood stars mixed with late family members on the walls of her house. There’s more to Kaye than meets the eye though - she’s a complex, funny, kind, and honest woman, and the relationship with Ben is endearing and heart-warming. The end result is a charming, entertaining and touching film about relationships, family, and how we live.

We're pleased to welcome director Ben Reed to the festival who will join us for a Q&A after the screening
