Daaaaaali!

Friday 17th May, 2024

The Mockingbird Cinema - Screen 1 | 19:00 - 20:20

Writer John Bleasdale hit the nail on the head when he said “it’s as if Luis Buñuel directed a script by Monty Python.”

The wonderfully silly Daaaaaali! (spelt with 6 a’s because Salvador Dali is portrayed by 6 different actors) follows a French journalist who meets the famed Surrealist for a documentary film project.

This screening marks the return of Flatpack fave Quentin Dupieux, the writer and director of Smoking Causes Coughing, the Power Rangers parody that got us some great laughs at Flatpack Festival ‘23. You may also know the French filmmaker from Rubber - a wild experimental horror comedy that sees a spare tyre embark on a homicidal rampage - or his yellow puppet pal Flat Eric.

As you’d expect from the title and the subject matter, Daaaaaali! is far from a linear biopic, but rather a fever dream with plenty of belly-laughing.
